Germantown and Mt. Airy Redevelopment Initiative

OVERVIEW

The Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority gained control of a portfolio of 25 properties in the Germantown and Mt. Airy neighborhoods of Philadelphia. We are working to ensure that these properties are responsibly redeveloped in the best interest of the community. In 2021, a Physical Conditions Needs Assessment (PCNA) was commissioned to study the properties, which are scattered throughout the area. The assessment concluded that of the 114 total units, 14 premises and 21 units are occupied and existing conditions of many of the properties require critical repair.

PHDC led a community feedback driven process to allow residents to take part in the redevelopment plans for these properties. We want to ensure decisions are made that reflect the best interest of the neighborhood.

GET INVOLVED WITH THE REDEVELOPMENT OF GERMANTOWN AND MT. AIRY

PHDC representatives are listening, learning, and informing the residents of the Germantown/Mt. Airy area, as part of a community driven process to fulfill the promise made to address neighborhood needs. Our last community meeting date and location is posted below. Recordings of past meetings are posted below.

On Saturday, July 16th, PHDC held our final public engagement meeting to discuss the future of the reclaimed Germantown and Mt. Airy properties. We wanted to hear your concerns and ideas for creating a positive and sustainable transformation of your neighborhood.  We would like to thank everyone who participated in this process.
